At Minimbah State School, our Boomies reward system plays a key role in supporting positive behaviour and student wellbeing across the school. The program recognises students who consistently demonstrate our core school values of Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, and Safety.
The Boomies system uses a tiered approach to acknowledge and celebrate student success throughout the term. As students earn Boomie points, they move through a series of achievement levels:
- On Track Certificate – recognising consistent, positive behaviour
- Bronze Certificate
- Silver Certificate
- Gold Certificate
- Platinum Certificate – our highest level of recognition
Each certificate is a milestone that reflects a student's commitment to making positive choices in both the classroom and playground. Students are celebrated at each stage, helping to build confidence, motivation, and a sense of pride in their behaviour.
At the end of each term, students who have reached a reward tier are invited to participate in our exciting Reward Day Celebrations. These events are a highlight of the term and provide students with a fun, engaging experience as a way of recognising their efforts.
The Boomies program was developed in partnership with students, staff, and families. Student voice played a central role in designing the system, and our community helped choose the name and logo through a school-wide competition — with the winning idea, "The Boomies," proudly contributed by one of our Indigenous families.
To support easy tracking and fairness, our technology teacher developed a custom digital system that allows staff to record and monitor Boomie points in real time.
The Boomies program is more than a reward system — it's a school-wide approach that promotes positive behaviour, builds a strong sense of belonging, and helps every student feel recognised, supported, and celebrated.
