The City of Moreton Bay (previously known as the Moreton Bay Region) is one of South‑East Queensland’s most dynamic and diverse local government areas. Located just north of the Brisbane metropolitan area, it stretches across urban, suburban and semi‑rural zones, offering a unique blend of lifestyle, nature and convenience.

A snapshot of the region

  • The City of Moreton Bay covers over 2,000 km² including 294 km of coastline and waterways, making it a region of many faces—from bayside escapes to rural hinterland.

  • As of the 2021 census, the population is approximately 476,340 people.

  • The region delivers everything from coastal charm (islands, beaches), to leafy suburban life and growing commercial precincts.

Within the City of Moreton Bay, Morayfield stands out as a key suburb experiencing strong growth, convenience and practicality.

Shopping & amenities

One of the strengths of Morayfield is its commercial convenience.  The suburb is home to a well‑established shopping precinct including the Morayfield Shopping Centre, which features major retailers such as Coles, Woolworths and Kmart, along with many specialty stores.  Beyond that, local cafés, restaurants, health services and other everyday amenities are readily available, reducing the need to travel far for day‑to‑day needs.

Transport & connectivity

Transport is a key part of what makes Morayfield appealing. The suburb is served by the Morayfield railway station on the North Coast line, offering direct train services to Brisbane, Ipswich, Caboolture and farther north.  For road travel, the Bruce Highway and Morayfield Road provide good accessibility to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.  On the public‑transport infrastructure side, the region supports bus routes and commuter infrastructure via the local council.

Lifestyle & community

Morayfield is often described as striking a balance between suburban comfort and access to urban services. According to local commentary, it offers “a mix of urban convenience and suburban comfort” with “excellent shopping, transport, and family‑friendly amenities.”  Parks, green space, and easy access to both the coast and hinterland mean residents can enjoy a relaxed lifestyle while still being connected.  The affordability of housing in Morayfield compared to some neighbouring suburbs also adds to its appeal.
