NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to come together to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In Queensland state schools, NAIDOC Week provides a meaningful opportunity to recognise the rich contributions of First Nations peoples and to embed cultural understanding into the heart of school life.
At Minimbah State School, we proudly celebrate NAIDOC Week with a range of engaging and respectful activities that reflect this year's national theme. These may include performances by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, storytelling, cultural workshops, art projects, and community events. Our aim is to create inclusive learning experiences that deepen students' understanding of Australia's shared history and promote a sense of pride, respect and connection for all.
NAIDOC Week celebrations align with the Queensland Department of Education's commitment to reconciliation, cultural capability, and ensuring every student feels safe, seen and supported. It's more than a celebration — it's a step towards building stronger relationships, respectful learning environments, and a shared future. This year's theme is 'The next generation- Strength, Vision and Legacy.
We are proud to be celebrating our third year of NAIDOC Week here at Minimbah State School — a special time to recognise and honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year, we're thrilled to welcome the incredibly talented Sean Choolburra, who will be performing for both our Junior and Senior students .
Sean's high-energy performance promises to entertain, educate, and inspire our students as part of our NAIDOC celebrations.
A huge thank you to our amazing P&C for once again sponsoring this important event and helping us bring such a meaningful celebration to life.
Throughout the day, students will take part in engaging NAIDOC-themed activities across the school. We also have some fantastic prizes up for grabs, generously donated by Yarn.
We can't wait to come together as a school community to celebrate culture, connection, and country!
