The Guidance Officer works directly with individual students, teachers, support personnel, family, also supporting referral and liaising with other specialists and health professionals from support agencies for specific and complex issues.
The Guidance Officer also provides resources, information & support for parents and families, specialised support in response to student protection issues, critical incidents and emergencies.

The Guidance Officer follows ethical guidelines and confidentiality, while also contributing to a professional support team.

For academic concerns, it is usually best to discuss the concerns with your child’s classroom teacher, who can make a referral for support or assessment, however,
parents are also welcome to contact the Guidance Officer regarding personal, social, emotional and family concerns by making an appointment through the school administration office.

At Minimbah State School, Rebecca Bedford, our Guidance Officer attends the school full-time.
