Year 7 Camp

16/08/2012
The year 7 camp is to Moreton Island. The children gather early at school to catch a bus which boards the ferry to Moreton. The excitement and anticipation is thick in the air with nerves for some as it’s their first time on a large boat and also being away from home. Once on the island we make our way in a 4WD bus to the other side of the island. On reaching our camp site the marquee tents are set up with stretcher beds ready to be occupied.
The food and activities are great. Sand tobogganing, swimming in Blue Lagoon, trekking around the island to see historic sites, climbing Mt Tempest, going to Moreton Island Lighthouse and viewing the rock pools.
The whole camp experience teaches the children about resilience, consideration to others, respect, co-operation, determination, independence and leadership skills.
