QUT vision screen a huge success

Dr Sonia White (QUT), Sean Bennett (Principal) and Terese Jarmain (Head of Student Support), with student participants in QUT Vision project.

Minimbah State School is extrememly proud to have partnered with QUT to run vision screening and eye checks for students.

The project was funded by a philanthropic organisation – administered by The Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation, Melbourne.  The specific trust for the QUT funding is the Eldon and Anne Foote Trust.
QUT’s education and optometry team, led by Dr Sonia White, Prof Joanne Wood, Dr Alex Black and Dr Shelley Hopkins were successful in their application and will be conducting this project throughout 2016 (and hopefully beyond).
Dr White said of the project, “It is this funding and your willingness to be involved and support the project that makes days like yesterday possible.  A pretty great feeling. Thank you!”
Minimbah is extremely proud to have worked on this project and as a result of this, we have seen children re-engage with learning and reading in some students, has seen a 6 month gain, in under 5 weeks.
