Channel 9 Visits Minimbah

Students from 3D showing their Minimbah Manners for the cameras.
What a busy and eventful term we have had so far, now to top it off the excitement we were lucky enough to get a visit by Channel 9 News. This is all thanks to our work with QUT on the Vision Screening Program. This program was introduced in 2015 where we partnered up with QUT to check and analyse the vision of our year 2 students. The purpose was to provide early intervention in overcoming vision problems for kids, with a view of determining if early intervention improved learning and results.
The results were alarming yet interesting, with 120 students screened 1/3 had a vision problems and of these around 30 needed glasses. Since having our students screened we have noticed a vast improvement in all areas of learning. Unsurprisingly, students have difficulty succeeding, if they are having difficulty seeing. As a school we are noticing great improvements in students reading levels, academic levels and even in their confidence and attitude towards learning.

All students are to be commended for showing their Minimbah Manners to our special guests on the day, all this could not have happened without the hard work of our Minimbah Students.
