LEARNING AT MINIMBAH
Our purpose is to provide quality learning in a caring environment that encourages all students to fulfill their potential and to be able to face the opportunities and the challenges that they will meet in a changing world.
Our School Curriculum Plan provides full details on our strategic direction for teaching and learning programs.
At Minimbah State School the Curriculum planning and implementation process is supported by a Head of Curriculum and guided by the systemic requirements of the Education Queensland P – 12 Curriculum Framework. Within our school context the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines forms the basis of our Prep program and the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (QCARF) throughout Years 1 – 7.
Prep
Our Prep teachers work collaboratively to develop units of work based on the Early Years Curriculum and dependent on students’ interests and needs.
Years 1 – 7
Units of work are developed from the Essential Learnings and are based on the Key Learning Areas (KLAs) of English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society & Environment, Technology, The Arts, Health and Physical Education and Japanese. Units may be integrated across more than one KLA but are usually KLA specific.
Teachers work collaboratively in year level teams and consider:
· the targeted Essential Learnings and Assessable Elements
· students’ strengths, needs and interests
· the learning context, deep understandings and key learning experiences
· pedagogical approaches and strategies
· the integration of ICTs
· integration of indigenous perspectives in appropriate units of work
· assessment, evidence and moderation
· evaluation and reporting.
